Paper and pencil are still the preferred tool when it comes to brainstorming for designers. Being able to write down your ideas in a notebook or journal is fundamental to the creative process. The sketching process allows designers the ability to gradually work through an idea and come up with solutions.Β
According to a surveyΒ put together by Khoi VinhΒ (a graphic and interaction designer, who was the design director at The New York TimesΒ and is now the principal designer at Adobe) "64Β percent of designers donβt brainstorm with software. They do it with pen and paper."
It's nice to see even in 2015 with allΒ theΒ advancements in technology and development of so many programs, these ideals are still in place for designers.
